Oslobuss is responsible for shuttle bus services at Oslo Airport, and needed to modernize its system for managing assignments. The goal was to improve coordination between bus drivers and traffic controllers, ensure precise handling of passengers, and lay the groundwork for further development in the future.
We have designed and developed an Android app that gives all shuttle bus drivers at Gardermoen an overview of their assigned tasks, and what the next step is for the current one.
Getting passengers to the right place at the right time is important at the airport, and the app helps with both. It also knows which assignments are extra sensitive, and provides extra notifications to the driver in those cases.
Drivers report their progress and any deviations, which are then picked up and processed by traffic controllers.
The traffic controllers, in turn, use a web app, which we also designed. The web app offers detailed information about all incoming and outgoing flights, with robust search and filtering capabilities.
The traffic controllers distribute shuttle assignments for all flights in need, and thanks to the Android app, they always have an overview of which drivers are available.
The project was done in collaboration with Item Consulting and Datek.
